OPERATION BOOKS FOR REFUGEES FROM KATRINA
Over 20,000 people from New Orleans, refugees from floods and devastation are coming to Houston to stay in our Astrodome. Two Houstonians, Diana Driver; a writer and Diane Teichman, a series acquisitions editor have coordinated a plan with Borders Bookstores and Waldenbooks to provide books to bring these people an enjoyable distraction from their worries.
We are asking everyone to donate entertaining books and bring them to any Borders Bookstore and Waldenbooks throughout Houston. Out of town donations should be shipped to the Kirby location:
OPERATION BOOKS FOR REFUGEES FROM KATRINA
c/o Borders Books
3025 Kirby
Houston, TX 77098Phone:713.524.0200
We will be accepting books until these people can return home. Please go to their websites for locations and information: www.borders.com or www.waldenbooks.com
Diane and Diana and other volunteers from the writing community in Houston will pick up the books from the Borders Bookstores and deliver them to the Astrodome every Saturday.
Saturday will mean new and exciting books for these people.
Please help bring our neighbors some pleasure in the midst of so much pain!
